Questions

Window & door frame sealing FAQs

Why has the sealant around my windows cracked?

Usually age and movement, along with the temperature swings that come with sitting outside. How long it lasts depends on the product used and how much the frame moves, but 15–20 years is a typical working life before flexibility is lost and the sealant cracks away from the frame or the reveal.

Can you seal timber frames as well as uPVC and aluminium?

Yes. Timber needs a paintable or flexible weather-grade sealant rather than standard silicone, so we match the product to the frame material.

Will resealing stop a draught coming through?

In most cases, yes — a failed or missing perimeter seal is one of the most common sources of draughts around older frames.

Do you seal both the inside and outside of a frame?

Where needed, yes — we'll assess whether internal or external sealing (or both) is required to fully close the joint.
