Why has my bathroom sealant gone black?
Almost always mould growing under the surface of sealant applied over a damp or unprepared joint. Wiping the surface won't fix it — the sealant needs stripping out and the joint resealing properly.
How long will new bathroom silicone last before it needs redoing?
A well-maintained, properly ventilated bathroom should get 8–10 years out of a properly prepared anti-mould joint. Shower and wet room areas see more standing water and less airflow, so they typically need refreshing sooner — nearer the lower end of that range.
Can you seal a full wet room, not just a shower tray?
Yes — floor-to-wall junctions, drain surrounds and door thresholds throughout a wet room, not just the enclosure.
How soon can the shower be used after resealing?
Touch-dry within an hour, but we'd ask you to avoid running water on the joint for 24 hours while it fully cures.
